IBM has launched WatsonX, an artificial intelligence and data platform aimed at helping businesses integrate AI more easily and cost-effectively. A decade after the debut of IBM's Watson, which gained fame for winning Jeopardy, AI adoption in companies has become a priority with the rapid success of chatbots like ChatGPT. IBM CEO Arvind Krishna emphasizes that the reduced cost of implementing large language AI models makes WatsonX more attractive to businesses.

Krishna acknowledges that AI may reduce certain back office jobs at IBM in the coming years but insists that the company is hiring more people than it is letting go as it focuses on areas with higher client demand. IBM is also partnering with open-source AI software development hub Hugging Face and others, embracing a more open ecosystem. WatsonX allows companies to train and deploy AI models, automatically generate code using natural language, and utilize large language models built for various purposes such as chemical creation or climate change modeling.
